What do I need to complete this course online?
You will require:

What do I need to bring to the workshop?
We encourage students to bring a laptop to their workshops.
What is the Student Handbook?
The Student Handbook sets out your rights and responsibilities as a student of Connect Skills Institute. Students are required to download and read the brochure and Student Handbook. Both of these documents can be found on our website.
Upon the successful completion of an assessment, your answers will be marked within 21 business days. After all your assessments are completed you will receive a statement of attainment.
How do I apply to Consumer Affairs?
You must provide your employer with a copy of your statement of attainment and a police check.

How to become a fully licensed Real Estate agent in Victoria
How old do I need to be to apply for a real estate agents’ licence?
21 years of age.
Do I need experience in VIC to apply for a real estate agents’ licence?
12 months registered as an agents representative on the public register.
If I have worked for an agent for 12 months before I can apply for an estate agents’ licence?
Yes, you can apply as soon as you have finished the course.
Does this course allow me to apply for an estate agents licence with Consumer Affairs?
Yes.
Does this licence allow me to open my own office?
Yes.
Can I work from home?
Yes.
Can I operate sales or property management and as a licensee in charge?
Yes.
Can I open and operate a real estate trust account?
Yes.
What does it cost to apply to Consumer Affairs, and do I renew annually?
Approximately $380 and it’s renewed annually.
Can I sell property in a state or territory next to the one I have a current real estate licence in?
Yes, you can up to a certain kilometre range of approximately 150 – 200 kilometres.
Can I sell or contract a real estate client in QLD or NSW whilst holding a current VIC Estate Agents Licence?
Unless it’s with 150-200 kilometres of the border, then you will need a licence in that state or territory.
How do I get one?
You can simply apply at the regulator’s website and tick mutual recognition application. You will need to provide a copy of your current estate agents licence, photo ID and in some states an AFP police report.
How long does Consumer Affairs take to process my licence application?
Approximately two weeks.
Can I start operating before I have a licence?
No.
Where can I find the forms agents use in everyday practice?
ADL forms are used in our courses and they are recommended based on quality, the number of forms and price.
Do I need insurance?
You are not required by law in Victoria to have professional indemnity insurance. It’s recommended to have 3 million in cover for aggregate claims and 1 million cover for single claims. The events listed in the legislation are advised to include in your policy to make sure you’re covered.
Make sure you inform the insurance company or broker you are either are or are not doing auctions, strata or body corporate work, holding trust money or property management. If you’re applying for mutual recognition in another state, public liability insurance for 20 million is advisable.
Can I work on commission only with a real estate agents’ licence?
Yes.
Do I need to do any continuing professional development every year?
It’s not a legal requirement from Consumer Affairs, but it’s important to keep yourself up to date with changes.
