This course is to complete the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking any construction work in Victoria.
It is also known as Construction Induction (CI) training, Construction White Card, or Red Card training.
Standard Duration: Most students complete this course in 7 hours (includes 2x 20 min break) at one face to face class. Classes run from 9am until 4pm or 7:30am until 2:30pm.

Enrol online to attend the 7-hour face-to-face training session at our brand new training facility.
Step 2: Attend Face-to-Face Training
During the session Trainers will guide you through the learning and provide you with some assessment tasks to complete.
Step 3: Receive Your Certificate & White Card
Once completed, you will receive your printed Certificate with the latest QR security features and WorkSafe Victoria will mail your White Card to you within 60 days.

How long does this course take?
Students finish this course within 7 hours.
How long does it take to get my White Card?
Upon completing the training, you will receive a Statement of Attainment/Certificate on the same day, which can be used as an interim White Card for up to 60 days. A physical White Card will be mailed to you within 3 weeks.
When can I start the course?
Our course is open for enrolment at any time! You can select a date and time that suits you to attend the session.
What should I bring to my class?
Please bring your original photo ID and a pen to the class.
Do I need to bring my own PPE?
No, you do not need to bring your own PPE. We provide all necessary PPE during the assessment.
What if I fail an assessment, can I retry again?
We provide unlimited re-submissions. You can re-submit your assessment as many times as you need during class. The assessment is open book.
How long is my White Card valid for?
Construction White Cards do not expire. However, if you leave the industry for more than two consecutive years, you will need to attend another White Card training to ensure you are up-to-date with current safety standards.
Do you provide White Card training to international students?
Yes, we provide White Card training to international students and to those on a Student Visa (subclass 500).
Can I do White Card training online?
No, White Card training must be completed in a face-to-face classroom setting in Victoria . Be careful of courses that claim to offer online delivery, as they are not valid.
Can I start working with my statement of attainment/certificate?
Yes, you can start working immediately with the Statement of Attainment/Certificate issued on the day of course completion.
Can I use my Construction White Card in other states?
Yes, your White Card is valid across all states and territories in Australia.
What happens if I lose my White Card?
If you lose your White Card, please contact WorkSafe Victoria to order a replacement.
Are you approved by WorkSafe Victoria?
Yes, we are fully approved by WorkSafe Victoria to provide face-to-face White Card training.
What is in the assessment?
- Multiple Choice Questions: Test your knowledge on work health and safety practices.
- Short Answer Questions: Demonstrate your understanding through short written tasks.
- Questioning: Some questions will include a verbal component to assess your knowledge.
- Observation: Show your ability to correctly fit PPE.

Are there any requirements to start this course?
To undertake any of our courses you must:
- be 16 years of age or older
- have read the summary page of the student handbook.
Before beginning the course you must complete a short Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test.
What do I need to complete this course?
We recommend students bring their photo ID and a pen to the class. Please arrive at the training venue least 10 minutes before start time.
What is the Student Handbook?
Students are required to download and read the Student Handbook Summary Page.
The Student Handbook sets out your rights and responsibilities as a student of Connect Skills Institute.
